Head of Ingorokva Clinic Stroke Center
From October 1, 2019, a stroke center was opened at Ingorokva University Clinic, and hundreds of patients have already been provided with full-fledged, high-quality medical services. An experienced and highly qualified multidisciplinary team optimally quickly, in the first minutes, accurately diagnoses a stroke and selects the correct treatment tactics, which undoubtedly affects the outcome of the disease - the post-stroke disability is reduced and the quality of life is improved.
Systemic thrombolysis - during an acute ischemic stroke, every minute is very valuable, because up to 2 million brain cells (neurons) die in 1 minute, that is why the patient should be transferred as quickly as possible to the nearest stroke center, where systemic thrombolysis - reperfusion therapy can be performed, it is one of the main treatment methods for ischemic stroke. The therapeutic window is only 4.5 hours. When a special medicine (tissue plasminogen activator-alteplase) is administered intravenously, the thrombus blocking the blood vessel (colt) is dissolved, and as a result, the blood circulation of the brain is quickly restored. To date, our stroke team has performed a number of successful thrombolytic therapies without complications.
Mechanical thrombectomy - thrombus extraction (removal of a blood clot/clot from the femoral artery with a minimally invasive intervention, with an endovascular approach) can be performed up to 16 hours after the onset of stroke. This method is mainly used in acute occlusion of large vessels, this intervention is performed when thrombolytic therapy alone is not enough to achieve reperfusion (or when intravenous thrombolytic therapy is contraindicated).
